Life at crossroads
'Life...' , a root word with affixes that can make or break the world. It is the most feared term in the universe, but nobody acknowledges it's dread. A term that is so monumental in every aspect that the very presence of it's shadow throws a person to jitters. It is a concept ingrained in every individual at a very young age.
Teachers say, "Study hard or you cannot succeed at the larger challenges of LIFE..."
Parents say, "Organise yourself to become successful in LIFE..."
Friends say, " LIFE is not as easy as it seems to be..."
Elders say, " LIFE will teach you valuable lessons..."
This conception of LIFE is casually metastasized into every aspect of living that its elements hinder the birth of creativity and ingenuity in a person because of the fear of 'failure in LIFE'.
Recently, a colleague of mine showed me a poem she had written about DEATH. It was beautifully constructed, with a deep understanding of the so called other side of life. Being a very imaginative person, she had compared death to a bride who took ages to embellish herself before finally appearing in it's famed glorious style to accompany the dead in search of the unknown. While explaining her troubles and embrasssments after publishing it on a social media site, she said, " People consider me either depressed or suicidal nowadays. They look at me with sympathetic eyes. My parents believe that I have undergone a tragic breakup, affecting me so badly that I need therapy..."
The trepidation of death is so deeply engraved in our thought process that LIFE seems a better option always, and for life to be on the positive side of the chain of events, it is mandatory for it to be successful. Hence, the race in search of favourable outcomes and triumphs decide the persons proper utilization of LIFE.
However, the radical question of the terms of assessment of success is still unanswered. For an artist, the happiness of painting his dream picture is his pinnacle of peace and success while a scientist might not share the same notion. A farmer whose yield is as expected is elated at the fruits of his hardwork while a businessman might have other parameters.
It is paramount to maintain the individuality of a person in the conquest of power. While it is easy to lose thy self in search of power, finding a balance between LIFE and TRANQUILITY OF SELF is of utmost importance. Death is inevitable in every person's life. Instead of fearing it, a new understanding of it, acting as a gateway for a fresh beginning, helps in reducing the fear of defeat and LIFE on the whole.
The pressure of failing in various endeavors robs a person of those small moments of happiness that actually forms the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle called LIFE. A mechanical life provides the much expected financial stability but, it is the social, emotional and intellectual balance that helps in understanding oneself better and work towards fulfilment of the greater scheme of things one is destined for.
